HELP IN DECIDING

Hi GUYS , just hoping you can help me make a decision on which truck to buy? I,m Looking at the TRAXXAS E-MAX 16.8V 4WD MONSTER TRUCK RTR , THE HPI SAVAGE FLUX BRUSHLESS SYSTEM RTR , or HPI E SAVAGE SPORT VERSION . I would love any opinion any experienced people have. THANKS MARCEL

Welcome to RCU!

I've read that Traxxas are more durable than HPI. Of course now I'll get flamed by the HPI camp, but there it is.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

I thought the HPI had a stronger chassis

Personally, I think the twin vertical plate design by HPI is more durable, at least in theory. But sometimes it is a little hard to work with.

With the choices that you have, it is very clear that the winner will be the Savage Flux. From what I heard, Flux is a beast!! You better go with the Flux if money is not a concern.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

If you are comparing a 16.8 Emaxx to an Esavage (not the $600 brushless one) they are both pretty equal durability wise. Both have known weaknesses, the difference is that the emaxx has about 50 difference companies who make after market parts to take care of the issues with bulkheads and shock caps. No one that I am aware of makes anything to help the weak diffs and drivetrain in the e-savage.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

I don't know what some of these guys are smoking... But if you want straight answers, go check out the HPI MT forums.

E-Savage= Turd, little aftermarket support and potential.
E-Maxx- Good solid truck, been around for years and has a proven chassis.
Flux- Blows both out of the water performance wise, has problems shredding ring and pinions when running the most powerful batteries, but otherwise the Savage 1/8 is THE most durable MT out of the box, hands down. LSTs are comparable, but thats going into glow already.

Flux has all existing hop ups from the nitro Savage versions, which means endless amounts. The newest components do not have upgrades yet since the truck came out quite recently, so upgrade companies need to have some time to make parts.

You should really be comparing the E-Revo with the Flux, thats a more similar argument as the Flux blows your other choices to hell.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

Like they said, savage flux is the best choice. Stay away from the E-savage.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

So from what i understand for a chioce it would be the hpi savage flux brushless truck! Thats what i think i,ll get unless people on this forum can prove the choice to be a bad one.Does anyone know the running time on the savage flux and recgarging time? THANKS MARCEL

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

Like they all say if money isn't an issue then get the Flux but if money is an issue I'd get the E-Savage. It doesn't have the best aftermarket support but you probably won't need it because the only thing you can possibly break on it is the driveshafts and the differentials. I jumped my e-savy off the roof of my house and it landed about 30 feet away from my house on a boulder and all that broke was the body cracked.
Either way I'd go with the e-savage whether brushless or not you'll have a good time with them.

RE: HELP IN DECIDING

As others have mentioned, the Savage Flux basically wipes the floor with the Emaxx and Esavage. The only truck that can compete with the Savage Flux is the E-Revo Brushless, which can be considered as well.
