problems with CVDs

I had a pin come out of one of my CVDs while in a heat race, anyways it didnt come out all at once and acted like a saw which destroyed my Arm. How can I prevent this from happening again?? I have heard people using shrink wrap but does it hold good and can I get it at my lhs??

thanks

dremel a notch in the pin where the setscrew will sit and use loctite on the setscrew. Then, if you want, put heatshrink around the area where the pin is. I personally don't use heatshrink because once you dremel a notch, it won't come out.

Wouldnt it be kinda hard to get the slot right in the center?? also would that make the pin weak?

i took a fine tip marker and marked where to dremel. You don't have to dremel much, just enough for the set screw to mate up.

here's a link to how to do everything

Have you seen those Tebo rings from Jareds RC10GT in RCCA. Those look sweet and I think they would work good. If you like cvd's stay w/ them and try what jswinkos said, it works awsome. I have gone back to dogbones b/c thier way cheaper and never break!

I use these socks. Their rubber things that go over that area and they prevent teh pin from coming out. Im just not sure where I got them though.

thanks
