Its been a while...
 

Well, I started my rc venture 16 years ago with cars and trucks. I raced for a while; and just got burnt out from being on land. I have been flying for 12 years and keeping active. I want to get back into cars/trucks, but have no idea where to start. My last car was a bolink legend (from when I raced), my last truck was a Kyosho Nitro Tracker (still wish I had that). Here I am today, and I don't see either on the market. I am interested in the Team Associated T4 or RC10T2GT, but know nothing other than what I reed. I see a lot of brands out there I haven't heard of, and a few that used to only make parts. Just to let you know, I'm looking for a year round vehicle, no cars, and I don't plan on racing (my old hobby store shut down), but it may be something I might get back into. My questions, what is a reliable brand? What way is the hobby going (glow or electric)? What are you driving?

A traxxas slash would be good for you. It's very tough and can take alot of abuse.
I race my slash in the spec class, it's very fun and addictive.

Check out a Ofna Ravager. You can beat the hell out of those and it's a solid company with many available parts.

Well If you are also looking for speed, you should get the Jato 3.3 from Traxxas. If you put a set of MOAB'S on it then you are good to go offroad. Traxxas is Reliable and their replacement parts are fairly cheap.

Or, if you have a bit of money, get the Traxxas E-Revo. It's pretty versatile, can be set to go as low as 20mph for beginners, or as high as 70=80mph once you feel like it.

Yeah the E-Revos are pretty sweet. The only thing is that you have to spend 200+ dollers on lipo batteries and you have to have 2 of them dont you?

here is my $ .02
the t 4 and the gt 2 are great trucks !!!!!!!!! so is the b4 and the b44[4wd] buggies!!!!!
what to buy is very much up to what you want to do with the truck !and maybe even more so ,where are you going to
run the truck. monster trucks,ei savage, revo, mgt, and many more, are good for backyards and rough terrain .
stadium trucks and corr trucks like the gt2 ,slayer,and several others are good for more manicured terrain .
as far as which way the hobby is going ? it still seems to have a pretty good following in BOTH electric and
nitro,with the electric side of things they have brushless motors, and lipo batteries that will rival run times and
torque of any nitro engines .they have thier set backs to though , lipo batteries are dangerous somewhat and kind of
pricey too. brushless set ups can be costly too.
so i say you need to ask your self what do i want? nitro that can be messy, and fussy at times
or electric which can get to be very expensive and somewhat dangerous?
