How does Punch work? NOOB question
I run 3s 35c 50cburst batteries.
if my controller is 100% punch thats 50c right from the get go? If i lower it o say 50% is that 50% of the power all the time? And how do i access the punch power? Do i pump the trigger like you do when you use reverse? |
RE: How does Punch work? NOOB question
What ESC do you have?
If it is a castle, it is in the book that comes with it. 100% is the most limitting. 0% is when there is no limit, the motor/esc take all it wants. So, say your motor/esc wants 50amps and your battery has 75amps all the time, the esc/motor will only take 50amps, not 75. get it? :) hope this helps. ;) |
RE: How does Punch work? NOOB question
I think punch is programmed into the esc via a usb cable or "castle link" I dont believe the transmitter controls punch, your probably adjusting the epa.

100 is slowest?
Iwent to 70% and that is actually faster? Is there a way to hit boost while driving? |
RE: How does Punch work? NOOB question
There is no "boost", punch is just how much current the ESC dumps into the motor when you punch the throttle. Most esc's have a "soft start" function... which limits the power when you hit the throttle to act like a traction control, "punch" is like the reverse of soft start. Either 100% or 0% will be full "punch", pick the one that works. If you already have it set to full "punch", then you cant get any more power out of your current system.

F-me im only at 70%. Gonna have to try 0% just once.

RE: How does Punch work? NOOB question
Think of it like launch control in a real car. The more launch control you have, the more the car will limit the throttle when you stomp on the gas so you don't just shred your tires. Same thing with the ESC. Higher punch control will limit the initial punch, so you don't wind up on your back every time you give it the beans. It doesn't limit your top power, just how fast you get there. High punch control is the same as just pulling the trigger a little slower.

RE: How does Punch work? NOOB question
On the Hobbywing ESCs the punch is backwards from other brands. The % that you choose is how much punch is allowed. So 0% will be very soft, while 100% will be very powerful.
