I owned a RTR Nitro RC for a short time and realized that I should have gone with an electric Set up insted, simply because of because the plug n play. So I ended up trading for a Traxxas Slash. It's modified (I have no idea with what to be honest) when we traded he said my radio wasn't a 2.4ghz, so I agreed to keep my reciver and radio from the RTR Nitro car. We took out the OFNA reciver from the Nitro car and plugged it into Traxxas Slash and I Kept the OFNA radio. This was the same radio/reciver that came in the RTR set up for the Ofna nitro. When I get it home to play with it I realize the car isn't responding to the radio like it should. Sometimes it will do what I'm asking it to do and most times it will be uncontrollable and unpredictable. I've messed with the trim controls on the radio at it got a little better but not a bunch. Its really fast and I'm afraid that I'm going to break something if I don't get it figured out. So is this caused by the radio? Should I get a 2.4 ghz to go with it? What could be causing this issue? Sorry if this is a dumb question but your help is appreciated! Thanks!

Start from scratch with all your trims centered and center the steering servo. Then recalibrate the ESC so it "knows" where neutral/full throttle/brake are.
What ESC does the Traxxas have in it?
