Default Spektrum DX4C steering issue

My nephew has a DX4C transmitter he uses with a SR410 Rx in his Savage. We recently tried setting up his RC10T4 with a SR310 RX and he has ESC control but no steering. The servo is a HiTec 645MG. It's centered and stays that way. There is response if you grab a front tire and try to move the steering but if you try to steer it with the radio there is no response. I have no experience with Spektrum equipment so I'm hoping someone may have had a similar issue. The steering worked fine with the Futaba 3PM he was using before, but it doesn't now........

Thanks.....

Swap the plugs on the receiver and then see if your transmitter's trigger will control the servo through the channel 2 port. Also note that your ESC (while plugged into channel 1 on the receiver) will now be controlled by your transmitter's wheel.

Just trying a little elimination of possibilities.
