Default controller replacement

I pretty new to the rc scene, I just recently but a 1:10 bmw m3 gt from a guy on ebay, and i email several time asking him what company it from so that I can research upgrades, such as suspension, bodies etc. and he never answer me them , but my question for any one that can help is I would like to buy a new upgraded controller, it comes with a pistol grip controller, but it looks like ****. I would like to race with a friend of my mine who also just buy a rc/spec jada toy celica 1:10 scale, but I reading the the feq.. will be interfered because they're both 27mhz. Do all radios work with every car even the radio shack cars or do you need to buy additional parts to replace the stock parts.
I'm hope some one can help me out and maybe refer my to a company that sells, radio that are reletivly inexpensive.

Default RE: controller replacement

Though they are both probably on the 27MHz band (AM), that doesn't mean they are both on the same channel. AM has six channels and you just need to make sure that you are both not on the same channel by checking the crystals. If you are both on the same channel, then you need to replace one set of crystals (transmitter and receiver).

If you still want to change the radio, you probably still need an AM radio unless you want to go FM. Then you will need to change the receiver as well.
