Default Best place to learn all about radios?

I have a few questions about radios. I really know very little about them. I have an old Futaba magnum 1024 pcm radio, but I don't know how to use a lot of the features it has. I got it used, so it didn't come with a manual. Also, whats the difference between FM, PCM, and I think the other is HR? And what about synthesized radios? I noticed that they have 27 mhz and 75 mhz versions, but it says that a synthesized radio does away with crystals? I know, real newbie questions but I had to ask.

Contact futaba.com and request the manual for your radio. You can also post specific questions here and maybe someone who have the radio or have experience with the radio can respond.

This url http://www.mh.ttu.ee/risto/rc/electr...dio/signal.htm might give you some of the information you are looking for. Basically, PCM/PPM are FM signals. HR, I believe, is just an acronyms for "high response." Synthesized radios do not use crystals for the unit. Airtronics, JR, Hitec have a systems they offer. Novak also have an rx that is synthesized.
