Default Receiver Voltage for airtronics 92836, 92826 run 5 cells?

I recently bought a MX-3 radio and several Airtronics 92836 and 92826 receivers. There is NO internal BEC, voltage protection. I read keep the voltage on these between 4.8 and 6.0 Volts. I see conflicting answers on what is safe. I run Nicad 5 cell packs and know on full charge these are in the upper 7.x volt range. Is this safe on these receivers??? I hate to have to buy voltage regulators to use these..but If I have to what do I use?? thanx Chris

I thought that 92836 and 92826 RX both offer BEC. Also the operating max voltage is more than 6.0v. The manufacturer just advertise the safe range.

clink69,

You can use a 5-cell receiver pack without any problem with either of those receivers. I've done it, as well as everyone else that runs gas cars that I race with that use Airtronics radios. Even though the pack might peak at 7 plus volts, it drops down closer to 6 once a load is put on it. I race numerous gas vehicles, both on-, and off-road, so I speak from experience.
