I'm new to the hobby, and looking to get rid of my cheesy radio that came with my OFNA ultra MBX pro. I'm looking at the Airtronics MX-3, is that a good bet?

I had a Hitec high torque servo with the stock radio and had to switch the connector and two of the wires for that servo. But if buying the all in one you wouldnt have to worry about it.

since that radio is a computer radio, all you should have to do is reverse that channel on the radio

Ditto. On the old Airtronics radios prior to Z connectors, you had to swap the signal and negative wires because they were different than everyone else, now they are industry standard.
