I am confused of which radio I should get? SHould I go with the PCM...it seems the PCM does not come with the HRS receiver. IS the HRS receiver better? I really like the idea of not having crystal like the JR radio synth but pefer to use futuba...WHich is my best bet..its for running a 1/8 scale buggy?

Futaba is about to release a synth radio to compete w/ the JR in the $230 price range!!
It's the 3PM-FS, and it USED to be on Tower's site. But that was when they promised January release..then again w/an April release.
So Tower musta gotten fedup & is now waiting 'till they truly arrive before putting them back. Hell, even FUTABA (and Hobbico!) used to have info & pics on their sites, but have since taken it down!!
Actually, the specs are still there @ tower, just not an image, and you can't pre-order them like you used to be able to do:

If it ever comes out, it should be GREAT!! A few more goodies than the JR, and a better name to boot (although these delays are chipping away at my confidence a bit!!).

Right now I am considering the Futaba since it has a fail safe..that is really the only reason at this point.

Seems like a kinda trivial feature to pay so much $$$ for. A good, tiny failsafe is like $25.
The pirce diff. between the 2 Futabas is...what....$125-150?? And if you end up/start off adding a synth module and a synth receiver (yes, you can add this to the 3PK), add in another c-note or more.
There are lots of other features that set the 3PK above the 3PM-FS in the radio pecking order. But a failsafe has never been a biggie, as the external ones are cheap, weigh maybe 3-4 grams, and many (like me) feel it's far better to have seperate components than 'combos' (in any application!!), 'cause if, say, the built in FS craps out, you don't have to replace an $$ Rx.

SO at this point would you say I am better off with a JR XS3 synth with futaba servos and a separate failsafe? Like I said its just for one buggy and I do not need a ton of features

if you gonna buy the Futaba 3PK, the whol point is to have digital servos and HRS reciever otherwise don't bother spending that much and what i heard is that soon futaba will release a module for the 3pk so it would be crystalless, trust me futaba is experienced one and they wouldn't let their costumers down
it just that its gonna cost you some $$$ for digital servos and everyhting else and hell yeh its worth it
