Default 3PK Black or Gold?

Hi all,

What's the difference between the black version and the gold version besides the color =)? I read that overseas they sell them but would futaba warranty be covered?

Thank you all

The radio should come with a wheel adapter that allows you to adjust the wheel up and down whether or not it is black or gold. The thing that you should be most concerned with is whether you order the Magnum or the Megatech versions and which FM module you order (PCM FM or HRS). It's my understanding that the Magnum is usually more expensive than the Megatech version since the Magnum comes with a NiCd battery pack and is apparently supported in the US. There are numerous threads on the forum as well as links to the manuals.

Hi Tigger,

You're in Vegas, where did you get your 3pk? If i decide to get the megatech version, does warranty covered, also did you change to a rechargeable pack for your transmitter and what kind...

Thanks man..

They sell the T3PK locally at HobbyTownUSA, Hobby People, and Danseys. You may also want to check Ultimate Hobbies (Orange, CA) or Tower Hobbies (both have online sites). I own the Magnum version which comes with a battery and charger. It's my understanding that the "non-US" Megatech version is not covered by warranty in the US.

How do you like your radio? Did you pick the magnum version because of the warranty issue?

Since I purchased the radio locally, there was no choice of opting for the Megatech version. I really enjoy the radio and advise most people that I speak to who are interested in upgrading their radio, to wait and save up more money if they have to in order to purchase a T3PK.

Just check the stores online and if you don't see any black Magnums, post a message on the main RCU radio manufacturer support sub-forum. It may take the Futaba reps a few days to get back to you, but they should get back to you. Your question may have already even been answered.

Megatech = Futaba everywhre but NA
Magnum = Futaba in NA.

The gold version is the old version. It's only available now in NA
Mainly because the 3PK isn't selling that well in NA and Great PLanes has a **** load of them left.
We won't see the black version here until next year at least.

All 3PKs come with the adjustable mount adapter for lowering the steering wheel. They can also be both converted to left hand use.
The Black version has an updated scteering wheel (style and bolt type)
and slightly updated software. (no UI difference)

The Black version is readily available from places like rc-mushroom.com
That's where I got mine.
Mainly because it is way cheaper. It doesn't come with the tx battery and charger but those are lame anyways. I built myself a 9 cell nimh pack and it works great.

As for warranty. You can't warranty a Megatech Radio at Great Planes (Futaba USA).. for people in the USA I recomend sticking with Megnums. For people in Canada I recomend ordering from HK. Shipping is just as much to the US and to HK so having to send it in for Warranty is just as much.
