Default Whatever happened to BEC's

Hi all,
I've just recently returned to RC after a 10 year hiatus. My old radio, a very old Futaba 2 channel two stick, which still works, had a BEC or Battery elimination circuit which allowed me to get away with not having a receiver battery in my brand spanking new RC10B4...But the radios range is severely short due to someone snipping the receiver antenna wire short 15 odd years ago. Is BEC dead? I'm looking at a new Futaba 3pk and other models and see no mention of it. Thanks!

Don't be so stubborn. Not all receivers have BEC, but some do. Just take a look at the picture:

Yeah but A reciever with BEC is pointless if you have a nonbec esc

I don't know about that - I'm driving nitro vehicles

Maybe a stuoid question: But what exactly does the BEC do? I think that I've heard somewhere that it limits the voltage to the servos, but I'm not sure.

no it's if you have an electric car you don't have to run a rx pack because it's taking voltage from the 7.2 volt battery

Does it in the electric cars reduce the voltage? Many servos don't work for very long on 7.2V

Well, I always thought the the receiver and ESC had to both be BEC. But there again 10 years and alot has changed.
