Hi all
I´m going to buy my first car, but I fly planes for many years and I use a Futaba T9CP, so I won´t like to pay for a cheap and bad AM pistol radio if I can use the one I already have.
Anyone use a stick radio?
Is there much difference with a pistol radio?
Any input will be welcome

There is a world of difference between stick control and pistol control for RC cars. The stick will work so long as the RX and servos will fit into the car of your choice.
The Pistol has the benefit of very fine control over the RC car that the stick cannot provide. If you want to compete and race, pistol radios are the way to go. Otherwise, you will have to spend countless more hours trying to control you car with the sticks just to bring up your skill level to par with racers who use pistol. If you race and actually win with stick control, then your skills will have been so improved that when you finally break down and buy a pistol radio, you will totally spank everyone on the track!

I beg to differ !!!
Stick has a lot more of a natural finger movement as well as more control.
Most top European drivers and japanese drivers prefer stick.
Look at the pics of the Eurochamps.
Most popular radios are the SANWA / Airtronics Super EXZES and the Futaba 3VC.
KO Vantage Esprit is also good just looks a bit dated.
Ideal set up would be a SANWA Super EXZES with Spektrum Pro module.

It all comes down to one thing...
Preferance...
and you won't be able to use that radio unless it's module based and you can get a 75mhz module for it

I've used both stick and pistol. Pistol is so much more ergonomically correct for cars and trucks where stick is best for air due to the amount of control (yaw, pitch, roll, and thrust) required to control the plane or heli.
Pistol offers only two controls for ground [throttle/brake and yaw(left and right)]. The pistol gives you control of these two things so easily that if I were to go to stick control, I would always crash.

Thanks all for the replies
Yes, but why do I have to change the module? I can´t use a 35mhz receiver?

The radio mentioned can be used with 75mhz as it uses the same module as Aitronics M8/M11.

Couldnt wait any longer for the Futaba 2.4mhz module system.
Have the final round of offroad nationals next weekend.
I had to get Spektrumized.
Definately the easiest rc mod I have ever done !!!

Hello Razzor,
Can you move the stick position? I mean, it looks like the stick position is set to move from 8 to 2 o'clock... can you change that?
Thanks,
Jym.

Yes the stick can be rotated to suit your finger throw or just for comfort as well as length of sticks and tension can be adjusted.
Has all necessary adjustments and has a good feel to it.
