I've got a Spektrum DX3 system and love it. The only problem I have(besides the lack of model memory capacity) is the cost of receivers.
It seems like they are taking full advantage of the market with the price of car receivers. $79 and $99 seems like a lot for a car receiver when the air/bot have a 2 antenna system and more channels for <$60
with traditional radios you could use a higher channel count receiver with a lower capacity tx with no problem. IE a 4 ch rx with a 2ch am futaba TX.
So has anyone tried to bind a 6ch park flyer or bot rx with a 2ch or 3ch spectrum TX?
If this works it would save a bit of money as rx size is irrelevant for most non-race vehicles.
Thanks,
-Anthony

Sure, most plane systems come with recievers which have more channels than they need, as receivers aren't made for every number.
IMO using plane equipment must have a catch for surface use, or else we'd all have it. Probably shock resistance or something.

With Spektrum neither of those are an issue. So has anyone tried this?

No, the 6 channel Spektrum receiver will not bind to the 2 and 3 channel radios. The 6 channel receivers are really 2 receivers in one, hence the dual antennas coming off of the 6 channel receivers. As such, the 6 channel radios actually utilize 2 "frequencies" where the 2 and 3 channel systems only utilize one. The 6 channel receivers seek out 2 "frequencies" when they bind and will not bind until they've found the 2nd one. With a 2 or 3 channel system, it will never find the 2nd "frequency", so they won't bind.
