i found out that the safety doesnt kick in if you have low bats. so in other words you just had bad batt. the spektrum is very picking about that. i know becuase i own one. and had that happen to me. it has to do with the batts low on your radio or your car. and so you get spikes in the car and it hits full throttle. try this, turn of your remot with your car on. it should go into safety but if you where to leave your radio on and turn off your car you should see that it takes a few seconds to find the control. and it should be at full throttle tell it finds it. why i dont no. if your car is nitro dont have the car running for this test.

Same thing with my spektrum. The failsafe does kick in, it just turns the wheels a little. I set it to do full brake and turn the wheels all the way to the right.

Just a bit off topic ,from experience I would not suggest you use the failsafe on the spektrum or at least set it to nuetral as myself and a few other guys have cooked throttle servos because of this.
mainly due to the fact that at a race meeting we can not get access to our cars after a race due to marshalling and our pit crew having to get our cars to scrutineering ASAP.Forgetting to turn of recievers is a common thing to do.

My Spektrum has worked great and I do not have a problem with it but I do have problem with the fact if you need a part for it you have to send the radio and let them replace it even if it is a pop of pop on part. I got something on the protective lens that cover the display screen so I emailed them how much the lens cost. They said the only way I can get it is send the radio in and let them replace it. The shipping there and back would cost more then the part much less what they would want to charge me to replace it that takes all of a couple of minutes if that as well as being with out my radio which I race just about every weekend. There are many big radio manufactures coming out with the same technology in the next couple of months.
