Default Spektrum telemetry question

I'm trying to setup my spektrum telemetry on my nitro car. My question, or concern more or less, is that those little black stickers for the rpm censor don't stick to my flywheel real well. Can you just paint a black mark on your flywheel, or maybe use a sharpy or something? Will it still work, and has anyone tried it?

Default RE: Spektrum telemetry question

Yes, it uses a electro-ptical sensor which senses changes from light to dark or dark to light. So if you are using a natural aluminum flywheel (silver) use a black sharpie or some black paint. The clearer the separation from dark to light the better the sensors works, so be sure the flywheel is/stays clean. Any dirt or discoloration will cause false readings. Also in my case, the sensor needed to be precisely set a certain distance from the surface or it didn't work properly.
