Futaba steering wheel removal
 

Hi, I am a new member and this is my first post. I loaned out my Futaba magnum Jr. pistol to the neighbors kid and he broke the steering internals. The unit is about 8 or 9 years old and I am not at the location where it is at the moment so I don’t have the specific model number. It still works, the steering is just very sloppy and the wheel moves more then it did. Anyway, I would like to take it apart to see if I can fix it (I think something just snapped) but I cant get the steering wheel off the shaft, dose anyone know how to do this? I have gotten everything else apart on the unit.

Is there a removable cover on the face of the wheel which could expose a screw? Or maybe it is secured from the back - i.e the screw goes through the shaft and into the wheel? I doubt it'd just be secured with glue...

Thanks for the reply, nope, no cover on the front, the steering wheel looks like a mag wheel on a car and you can see tru the “spokes”

I looked at the back and didn’t see anything but it was a short look, had to stop playing with it at the time. Ill crack it open again and have a second look, there may be some sort of clip too.

Wellp, turns out there is a removable cover on the front, glued on. It was such a match in appearance with the main body of the wheel it looked like one piece. I did say I took a quick look at it. The cover was actually an aluminum disk. Had to punch a hole in it to get it off but so what.

Anyway, my strong armed 9 year old neighbor over rotated the steering snapping off the stop on the wheel and breaking off a tab on the shaft where it contacts the spring arm. I think I can make a metal collar to fix the spring arm problem. Anyone know where to get a replacement steering wheel?
