HI
I could use some help obtaining the value of an RC car that belongs to a very ill family member. We are trying to help him raise some cash for his bills.
He isn't positive when he bought his RC10, but he is pretty sure that he got it in the mid 90's. Photo of box will be attached.
The car was almost 100% complete when he lost interest. The body is missing, but everything else is there.
This is a brand new in the box 1990's car that has never ever been used.
He also has the brand new in the box controller, battery charger and battery. ALL brand new,,, just 25 years old.
The box has TEAM ASSOCIATED 1991 on the front.
I took it to a hobby shop but they were swamped and didn't have the time to help me. A bunch of guys in line loved it, and one said that it should be worth $250-$300. No one disagreed, but I'm not convinced.
I want to put it on the orange county craigslist. I'm not opposed to shipping if there is any interest, but it would be easier to just hand it to someone.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Dave it may be helpful to email direct (s h i t l o a d o f d i m e s @ y a h o o . c o m)

Looks to be in excellent shape and I'd agree with RustyUs. As with anything, when it comes to the value of some unusual item, need determines value. If you throw it on Craigslist, if it is your intention to sell it, you may find some old RC driver (like myself lol) who is into the car for the nostalgia as well as the function. You may get a bit more out of it. JMHO

I agree that need determines value and from some RC10 Facebook groups( of which I’m a member), your price is a bit on the high side, mainly because there are a lot of these out there that can be gotten for far less. Example of such would be myself. I was looking for spare parts for my RC10 Gold Pan and some kind gentleman sold me a complete Champion’s Edition that was well used and needed a good cleaning and thought I could use it for parts. I decided to restore it instead. What made it an example of what you’re trying to do is that he sold it to me for $35.00. He knew what he had, he just didn’t want to restore it and I was grateful to get it for such a great price. We vintage car guys have a special attachment to these cars but a great many RC people don’t. If it was a mint condition Edinger A stamp or better yet, No-Stamp. It would command a much higher price, but what you have there is just a nice old car in pretty good shape. I know of what I speak because I have an Edinger No-Stamp.
