So glad I found this place. I had RC cars growing up in the 80’s that I still have! Resurrecting them as I bought my 9yr old a new RC, new Arrma Typhon 6S brushless (it’s nuts!) and I’d like to ride with him.
Anyway, one of my cars from long ago is a Team Losi JRx2. It’s modded but have recently ran into some issues. With a fully charged battery I get intermittent or no throttle response when applying full throttle on my controller. When it was running right, it was a rocket, it’s a lightweight 1/10 scale. I’d really like to get it working again. Here are some things I tested/tried:
Connecting the battery straight to motor works good, no issues with battery or motor.
If I connect the j connector from the ESC to steering (Chan 1) port in the receiver, it works great and turns the motor as it should. But, when I hook it up to the dedicated throttle (Chan 2) port, it run the motor intermittently, or sometimes not at all. So it’s not the ESC wires to the J otherwise I wouldn’t think it would work in the Chan 1 port.
Interestingly enough, when I plug my good working steering servo into the throttle (Chan 2) port, it doesn’t turn the wheel perfectly all the time.
i thought it was the receiver, tried another one and the same exact thing happens. Can it be possible to have 2 bad receivers? Is this common?
I was thinking it could be my ESC but then why would it work perfect if I plug the j connector into the steering (Chan 1) port in the receiver? I can’t understand this for the life of me.
I’m at the point where I’m thinking of just replacing both the transmitter and Receiver with a new model but I don’t even know where to start. I would need a setup that would work with my old Tekkin ESC and my Futaba servo.
Here is a list of my parts if needed.
Futaba Attack FP-T2NBL 75mhz transmitter
Futaba FP-R102JE receiver
Futaba FP-S148 servo
Tekkin TSC 411-G2 ESC
Jack Johnson Motown Missle brushed motor
Thanks all for your help in advance.
Nick
