Default Kyosho Scale Car Series from the '90s

Howdy! I recently rediscovered my Kyosho Scale Car Series RC cars from the nineties, modernized their electronics and then bought some more! To preserve information about these oldies, I wrote a series of long, wordy articles about them with more pics that you can check out here.

The TRX-4 Bronco isn't vintage Kyosho, but included because the XJ220 project got me interested in RC car interiors. After it, I circled back and tried to make one for the Testarossa.

Check 'em out if you're interested...

These are some Kyosho vintage chassis photos with modernizations:

Kyosho Ultima chassis- original mechanical speed control & resistor, crystal receiver (eBay pic)

Ultima chassis- brushed modern ESC, 3-channel DSM receiver, NiMH battery, ESS audio

Ultima chassis- 5-channel DSMR receiver w/2 pico switches (for audio volume), 2S Lipo, stuff moved to make room to build an interior

Kyosho Jaguar XJ220 (and Diablo) oddball chassis-- converted to RWD w/ESS audio

Finally, finished at last... A pic of the Kyosho Testarossa interior with both homemade driver and passenger figures:

It's what I do when I run out of space and want to work on stuff that I already own. It's been fun, but the Ultima chassis isn't ideal for retrofitting with a DIY interior.

No room for any more RC vehicles so it's on to exploring FPV...

Thanks-- It's been fun! Sorry that the links don't work: The original website articles were recently retired because almost all visitors were bots, crawlers, and wannabe hackers. The Internet has changed a lot since the '90s!
