actually, i just used spraypaint as well after i read that you did. i wasn't sure if i needed enamel paint, etc. and you said the spray paint worked fine so i went for it. then i just used a little masking tape and some red enamel paint for the stripes and voila! it's amazing what a couple cans of 97 cent walmart spray paint can do.

NICE.. yeah, I pay a lot more attention to the mechnical parts than the paint job.. (figured that they will get scratched up anyway! :P)

Try to take out as much play in the steering system as possible, I shimmed the steering blocks with 1 shim on each side..

Finally took sometimes and made some video..

It might not "look" way fast but it is probably because I had to let off the throttle for the turn before the car pass the camera.. but you still get an idea on how fast it go (listen to the sound.. :P)

Out of curiosity, what charger do you use? I'm shopping for one right now, thinking about the 977.

Yeah, you see me on and off throttle all the time.. (front lifted up, so I got off the throttle, then the wheels came down, then I got on the throttle again, then the wheel went up, then I had to get off the gas again, etc.)

Decided to bend the antenna and zip-tie to the strut tower brace.. so the antenna stays inside of the van body..

Does not seem to lose range.. at least I can drive anywhere in the big parking lot and seems to have full control.. so that's good..

So no more antenna sticking out, has a cleaner look..

And no more snapping the antenna tube!

DOH!! Broke one of my front wheel this past weekend.. I guess with the BL power, it is kind of expected.....

Don't feel like getting another set of Lunchbox wheel (esp. the rear has been converted to take hex..) Unless I can get front wheel only..

Or maybe it is time to invest in a set of custom made aluminum beadlock.... doh!!

I've gone and done it................I ordered up a lunchbox today. I also ordered up a full bearing set. I bought it mostly for my son and myself to play with. I mostly build and fly planes, and with him being so young, I dont like to take him with me seeing there is absolutley no shade out there. So.....I figured I could foster his interest in RC with a LunchBox. I've owned a nitro Rc10GT and nitro HPI RS4 previously. Both were fairly tough machines.....but how does the Box handle punishment? I'm just curious as to what I should expect to be tearing up. I can't wait to get it up and running!!!

Great thread.......keep it up guys,

Neo

Welcome to the Lunchbox club..

Under normal use, the Lunchbox is pretty bulletproof. The only thing that might break is the body mount. I also just recently broke the front wheel, but that's because I was crashing the 'Box in some spectacular fashion.. (due to the fast motor I put in it..) I never break anything when I was using the stock motor..

Even now, the transmission and everything else is holding up well under the abuse dishing out from the brushless motor..

Good call on the ballbearings.. you should be all set!

Remember to post some pictures once you build it up (or during your build!).. Good luck!

Heh, this reminds me - not too long ago I sold an old Lunchbox lexan body on eBay. It was painted kind of a sparkly blue with a purple stripe, like the stripe on the A-Team looking one on the previous page here. I wonder if someone here got it...

I found it at my mom's house a few months ago - I've had it since the 90s, never used it. (Never had a Lunchbox!) I can't recall why the heck I had that...

Hehe - they look fun. I've barely got time for my RC10, Mid SE (which I'll be selling), and hunting for a Schumacher cat though.
