cost about £110 plus shipping, about the same as a new Mi2, which i think are still available in certain places.. would make a nice addition to your collection for sure.
i have a dilema with the wires, out of the Mamba Max ESC i have brown/orange/red wires, which colour should be on the left (into the RX) and what channel does it go into?

mission complete! the zip tie job was a nightmare, there was only one place big enough for the ESC and that meant lots of wire crossing the belt..
one last thing i found pretty odd, most of the upgrade parts, hub carriers, servo link, motor heatsink, etc also had their plastic counterparts in the box also, a nice little touch for the clumsy driver!
full testing will be done tomorrow, new cells (IB4200) and TX are charging..

How comes you never fit the red belt Lee? Looks sweet either way mate; superb chassis. It has really sweet handling, because it has a short wheelbase. Enjoy!
What are your plans for the TA03 Blue belt? I am very interested if you want to sell/trade for parts....
Chris.

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
just took it out for a test drive, all i can say is "wow!" this thing rips! the motor gets warm, but i have some pinions on the way, just in case! 18t/19t/20t/21t (stock is 23t)
need a better way of securing the RX, might mount it next to the servo, cogging was slightly noticable, but i'm gonna read up on how to sort that, run time was 15 minutes plus, and with still some left in it! only got about 10 minutes with the Novak 4.5, but i didnt have IB4200's back then [&:]

Guess you don't need the zip-ties anymore Lee!
Looks sweet.
If you want a really cool shell for it try getting your hands on a Honda S2000. There was also a Merc SLK and a Porsche Boxster - for the ponces.
Good luck with the Honda, rarer than rocking horse doo-doo, you might be better getting another WRC- the Pug 206. HPI also did some hot-hatches, check the wheelbases on those.

i like to keep it as scale as possible so the S2000 is out (RWD) the 206 would be cool, but i know the kits are non existant, will look for a body..

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
Hey Lee I never tipped you about where to mount the Rx. I have a TA03F and an 03R, and both have the Rx mounted at the back, above the stablizer bar. The ariel has no restrictions straight to the straw, and you can run the servo wire along the bottom of the upper deck to keep things tidy. It'd be really useful if I had a pic eh? Batteries are dead atm, and I need to charge them to show off my new F103GT!

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
thats where i first mounted it, but it kept coming loose, and there's not much to zip tie it to.. so its now along the right hand side of the top deck.

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
tried this straight after driving the M-03R w MM 4600kv.. and this thing absolutely flew! until i heard a grinding sound.. i stopped straight away..
got it inside.. and there was dust in the motor housing.. in just a split second, the spur had been rounded off.. TA-03 TRF = garaged..
