Maybe it was white, and then faded to yellow.. (aged?) ha!

I think you just need to paint carefully....

Right - well, yellow vs. white I'm not worried about. It's just me wondering if there are any special tricks to paint the letters with any color. I'd be worried I'd bump the sidewall - doh!

I will see how large is the tires on the Wild One.. but a possibility is to run the Grasshopper rear tires, to keep the OEM ones in new condition.. (wuss, ha!)

Will order a set from Tower if I think their size looks okay next to the Wild One...

They might be small, though... but looks pretty scale!

Of course, I can also run the spikes from the Hornet / Frog!

From the reading I have done so far, looks like the design of the tranny allows the tranny halves to move a little bit (or maybe just not rigid enough?) and that allows the grinding of the diff gear.. unless you shime is right..

I found this from TamiyaClub that people made a custom Frog tranny to fit the Wild One!

Sounds like a good idea if you want to run the Wild One hard!

For the Red Bull fans!

Any idea if those rims are aluminum rims? (look like it, no?)

Note the rear shocks for the Wild One is supposed to be the same as the one found on Frog, except the shock body (Wild One units are flat, Frog's ones are not..).. but they are basically identically setup.

That means the re-re Frog (have the latest parts / improvement, I hope?) can be used as hop-up if one wish?!

They use a tire pen or some type of painting pen.

Saw a NIB example for sale at eBay.. post some pics of the content of the box when it was released years ago..

Note the packaging is very different from the current Tamiya.. Now parts are either in bags or on the plastic trees.. no more old school style blister packs.. (see the pics)

Front oil shocks, vs. coil spring only w/ the Fast Attack Vehicle..

As other users said, it is under-dampened.. maybe I need to re-build it with thicker oil..

Rear tranny is being held by the cage and attached to the main frame..

Need to open it up to put in ball bearings for sure!

Man I love the Wild One. Wonder what the chances of a re-re are?

I heard about the Wild One gearbox problems as well a few months ago, when I was doing research on RC cars before settling on the re-Brat.

I'd be afraid to run it for lack of spares... However that does look like a Frog bumper so I suppose that's safe! If it were mine to be running, I'd probably use different wheels and tires as well as a different motor and bumper to keep the originals intact. Perhaps "Sand Blaster" tires would give it a bit more ground clearance to guard against scrapes along the bottom? Or are they the same size?

I love the super scale look of the Wild One! Too bad modern RCs don't even consider scale even for a moment... (Well, with a few notable exceptions such as the High Lift!) Tires wider than the body? A track width greater than the body length? LAME!

And don't even get me started on the lack of driver dolls these days!

You're very lucky LB!

The grasshopper tires are theoretically the same size as my XR-311 tires, they have the 1.5" ID. I almost picked up a set from tower to run on the XR311, but I didn't wanna end up buying more stuff lol.

The tires are around 3/8" less OD than the semi tires, and are wider than a single tire.

I hope it won't be re-released now for the selfish reason.. hee hee..

I think the chance is not too bad, though.. Wild One / FAV shouldn't be hard for Tamiya to re-re...

The Hornet / Grasshopper tires are a little bit smaller, actually...

Standard 5x11mm bearings will work with these rims..

As mentioned, these tires are slightly larger than the Frog / Hornet!
