Ok here She is just off the shelf. I'd say She hasn't been run in over 15 years untill last night at around 10:30!!

My super sweet radio

The bottom to show She never was a "Shelf Queen".

Inside I guess I put Her away dirty?.... Kids have no respect......

Here's my garage fab wing made out of aluminum stock.

I even counter sunk the holes, I think we were gonna put brake lights in?...

Hay, I was like ten!!! So what if they are counter sunk on the wrong side? And the bolts go through backwards I was PROUD of this sucker.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

Wow Cope44 you are sure lucky having a boomer back then, even more lucky that you still have it now.  Thanks for sharing, just make sure you have a lipo cut off or alarm.  I run my boomer with a 3200mah lipo and a buzzer.  The buzzer is strapped to those blue battery side holders.

Time for a quick update

After roughly a years worth of moderate bashing in all conditions my boomer has held up better than I imagined. No breakages as of yet and no problems with the battery pin flying out. The only negative points I have found so far are:

The steering rack can get bound up when I run on gritty surfaces. I've since upgraded to a 6kg hi torque tower pro servo and lubed the steering mechanism with wax which makes for smoother operation and might just prevent the rack from getting stuck again.

The front suspension tends to sag. I'm going to add another shock spacer first to see if this will give more ride height, failing this I'll look to upgrade to alloy Df-03 shocks.

Plastics threads can strip or split if too much torque is applied when screwing bolts home

Mods:

I have recently added an ezrun 60 amp 8.5T brushless system which is superb for the money. I'm still running on nimh I'm seeing around a 30% increase in top end speed and and the car now accelerates up to full speed almost instantly. It is way faster than the orion element motor and I'm getting similar if not better run times[8D]

flatout nice mods.  I use dry lube teflon for my steering rack, UJs, etc.  Yes the DF-03 alu dapmers seems to be best, just reverse the front left and right post.  For the rear damper, add an internal spacer (1 o-ring) and use longer eyelet.  For front damper don't add the internal spacer.  I might also try thicker oil, as there is still a spare damper, the boomer only need 3 dampers we got 1 spare one... hehehe.

Post some more pics after the upgrade.

Hi Jky, did you find the cvd's a worthwhile upgrade and is it worth upgrading each corner or just the front?

The CV or UJ are one of the best upgrades.  It seems only the front needs upgrading.  Even the rear ones are at an angle there is hardly any bind.  So I just moved the UJ rears to my son's DF-02 rear dog bones which were wearing out.

Definitely the UJ are one of the first things to upgrade, very big difference especially when turning.
