RE: Vintage Tamiya Thread
Here are two of my BRATs, they are both originals. When the re-release ones came out I bought several, one to build and some to hang on to.
This one is on a Tamiya Mountaineer chassis that I shortened, you can see a BRAT camper top in the background:
This one is bone stock, it gets driven gently and rarely:
This is my real one that I did to match the model, I used 30"s and 8 inches lift to get it proportional in appearance:
That was just not enough for me so I went to 33"s on 12 inches lift:

Dude..... I would kill for that Brat... Many years ago a good friend and i built one very similar. We managed to jam in a 302 ford out of old Bronco. Worked very well for a couple of year then he started breaking axles. Don't know what ever happen to that truck...

Well I mostly post on the plank, heli and boat pages but when I saw this, I just had to post.
Thanks for bringing back some great old memories!!!!!!
I had forgotten most of these models existed.
I posted these on the boomer thread, but heck I think they belong here as well?
Vintage Boomer of unknown date, late 80's early 90's?
My first RC anything..

How much would the Supershot be worth? It has a Green Machine 3 Pro motor in it right now but I still have the original motor that dosn't work. I'm thinkin about selling it and putting the money towards a Baja 5B.

I just got a tamiya rough rider. It came with a box and everythign in it looks to be untouched since sometime in the 80's. IT features a cool home made MSC and a few cool racer mods. Pretty cool buggy, I put all the original metal trailing arms on it, but it came with plastic ones, and I cant find any info on those anywhere. Obviously the body is not original.

Here's a newly finished resto project of mine. I have painted the shell in 2 pack automotive metallic red base coat followed by three coats of clear which I ladled on to give it a glass finish. It's all original, still on plastic bushings, mech speed controller and 540 motor. It's was built from a kit and has been used once only several years ago according to the previous owner.

RE: Vintage Tamiya Thread
Hi there. I've recently purchased my first Tamiya product.........a Tamiya Bruiser. I've wanted one of thes since I was a kid. It is in great shape and only missing a few items ( louvers, interior and mirrors ) I don't really care that much. Are these parts reproduced, or do I need to search e-bay ?
So far, I'm impressed with the truck from a mechanical view. It looks so neat ! The transmission is amazing, and after cleaning all the thick grease out of it , it shifts smoothly. In high gear it was faster than I thought it would be. It is also heavier than I expected, but since it is made almost entirely from metal, I'm not surprised.
I'm getting conflicting info on shifting the truck. The shift gate for the transmitter, and the instructions I've downloaded, seem to place the throttle at neutal (off ) to shift. An old Tamiya commercial I saw on youtube says you can shift while moving. Which is correct ? I would hate to blow my transmission ! Thanks.
