Back in the mid 80's my first Rc was the Hornet. I remember putting a 14T motor in it I think, and running it on 7 cells. It was a screamer. Back then they were great, but toys compared to todays Rc. I've considered getting the Monster Beetle to build. Tamiya does make good kits to build.

My favorite vintage RC that I owned was the Kyosho Optima. That was a big step up from The Frog I had. The Optima was a box full of aluminum, and plastic joy. Went to my Pop's wood shop hunting for some paint to spray the body with. I'll never forget...Rustoleum white and blue to the rescue. I didn't know any better, nor did I care, probably. The paint held up pretty darn good.
My Optima went through a couple of phases in her life. The fastest phase was when I used the Kyosho 4wd chassis as a "dash for cash" dirt oval racer... 4 minutes of mayhem

My favorite vintage RC car
This one. My 32 year old RC10 Gold Pan Edinger Non-Stamped Chassis. I’ve had it since 1987 and while I’ve had to do a recent restoration, she’s still my baby. I’ve got a Bolink Eliminator coming which will be my next project. I had one at the same time and was the first car I ever bought new.

Tamiya Thundershot. Just love that car. 19t epic with timing adjusted and it zips along rather nicely. Handles good too. Built a reussue around 2005 - 2006 and its a driver, not a queen and not abused. Looking at a BigWig or Optima lately...
