Reviving my 20yr old Associated RC10 buggy
 

Hello - new to the forum.

I built an RC 10 buggy (gold aluminium tub) many years ago. It is in great condition and wanted to get it running for the kids to try.

When I built it I replaced the stock motor with an after market Reedy and installed a Futaba ESC MC210CB.
I charged up the old 1700mah nicad and it ran for about 3 min.

I purchased a new onyx 5000mah Nimh battery to go in it and I think it fried the motor. I checked it with a volt meter and the ESC is working well, just the motor stopped working.

Can you guys recommend some good motor replacements to go with this new battery? I am lookinig for good run time at least 20+min per charge.

How many cells on your Onyx battery? I will assume six cells. To go 20 minutes, you can buy any 540 size stock brushed motor and gear it really, really low. Won't be fast, but you might be able to do the time with throttle management.

How fast do you want to go? My first thought would be a stock 27T brushed motor. That would get you up to about 20 mph. They are getting so hard to come by at a good price. A new Snow Panther 27T is about $26 or the Integy 27T. I can almost guarantee those two motors are the same thing. There many more out there, just with different stickers wrapped around the same motor can. I only suggest those because you can change the brushes once they wear out.
