Nice! If only they would revert back to hard plastic bodies. I don't like the servo placement though. |

so i installed hex wheels on the front of my WR-02, its not a wild willy2 but the same model wr-02 with the suzuki jimmy body.
i have been searching for several month for a way to get hex on the front wheels, so i would be able to use a whole bunch of different wheels from all kind of brands. Lunchboxer pointed me to the farm king manual as that wr-02 variant use 12mm hex on the front wheels too. following that manual made things pretty easy: you will need, 2 axels like for the rear wheels: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1964075 also 2x 12mm hex locks like on the rear wheels, and shorter steering rods like on the farm king (37.7mm instead of 50mm) you can just use the B9 parts that are on the B-parts in every we-02 box, you will also need 2 ball heads to attach the steering rods: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1964077 replace the current axle with the B9 one: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1964076 so now i got these hpi warlock wheels and hpi yokohama geolander tires, there are a lot more option for all kind of different tires and foam inserts and wheels just get 2.2" with 12mm hex: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1964082 hope this helps anyone trying to do the same, there is a lot off wrong info on the internet about using front wheels without hex, most don't fit or need some totally different mounting option. |
I am sure you can fit the jeep body to it.. but for sure a lexan shell will be better for bashing and less prone to flip over!! So it is always a trade off!

Can somebody tell me what rims/tires they used on the GF-01 ?
|
The manual is now online.. you can look it up yourself!

Thanks LB, although it did not indicate the part number, the manual is a welcome addition to my library.
However, I was able to identify the tire & rim set. It was salvaged from the Tamiya Vajra truck. So it seems to be restricted to a 18T pinion only? Nice thing about the bodyset is that you can get another driver figure and turn him into a navigator! |

Well its fast its fun and its Willy's
Does 18 & 20T, is pretty fast with 18T and the Torquetuned. It corners like a F1 and does quite good offroad. If you dont want to spend to much money a gearbox swap should work as almost the rest is the same. The servo position is actualy quite stable and easy to access. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-P..._242751649.jpg |
That chassis would probably suit the VW better.

What are you trying to do? To widen the tracks? Or to run hex mounting front wheels?

Hey guys, I am new to this forum I have been on here for a while but with Helicopters and quads, I had a wild willy the original one 30 years ago and now with my grandsons getting older i wanted to find something to build with them. So when i saw that they had the WW2 it was a no brainer. The first one was a blast and I wish I still had it, but like a lot of things they get lost in moves and broke. So we are going to build this new one, I am impressed with all the help and pics of all the cool ww2's on here. So i have a few questions.
1. What transmitter is most of the guys using here? I am a spektrum guy but whatever works but would like to stay at 2.4ghz 2. What battery I see they are still using nicd how come no lipo's? 3. Also anything while I am building it that i should upgrade or improve would like to do this once? Thanks for any help you can give us..
