The funny thing about combat is that running out and buying "the best" of this or that won't really help you.

There are a number of differnet combat kits available, and when set up and flown correctly by a pilot who's style matches the plane, any of them can win. However, picking a plane that does't match your flying style just because isn't going to work out well for you.

You're far better off flying what the guys near you fly, at least at first. Fly a contest or two, and figure out how you want your planes to handle, then go from there.

Exotic russian engines aren't common in RC Combat, even with the very best pilots. Instead, inexpesive, reliable engines are preferred. The most popular engine is still the OS .25FX and for good reason. The Webra .25 is a bit more powerful. I like them a lot, but some folks have had some problems with them.

For kits, off of the top of my head, the Avenger and the Cobra are two of the best available. I'm not sure what the current version is, but the planes produced by Hattrick are first rate as well.

And remember, if you really want to be competitive, you need to get comfortable with your plane, and you'll need more than just one. How many you need depends on where you fly and how often of course.

about the engines, they are very good engines. the russian ones. they are reliable, and fairly cheap. also, very light. i have been doing this since i was about7 or 8, im 15 now. they are very good engines. and about the planes which people fly by me, i cant find a kit for them. i think they may be custom built, but when i see them fly, each person carries about 3 planes, just in case one crashes.

thats a site with the picture of the planes they fly. they are awsome, but i just cant find any kit or anything with them...
to get comfertable with my planes, we are going to buy 3 planes, one to test all our theories on, and the other 2 to battle.
could you send some pics of the cobra and avenger plz, ill check them out. thanks.

The engine, you mean Norvel? Ok, that's a pretty common engine. Not as common as it used to be, but not bad.

The planes in your pictures, those are sort-of clones of the Cobra that some guys came up with. You know, if you ask the guys who have them, they can probibly set you up with a kit. That's how these things often work.
