Combat Plane?
I'm sorry this is a dumb question, but is a combat plane just a plane that looks like a war plane or do they shoot bullets or pellets also? Because in another forum it said because they could hit his house, and i wasnt sure if they were talking about the plane or pellets or something.

RE: Combat Plane?
There are two separate terms:
A combat plane is a plane like the Lanier Ripper that is used for arial combat with other combat planes. There are streamers attached to the tails of both planes and the object is to cut the streamer off of the others tail. A warbird, is a replica of a military airplane (like a P-51D Mustang). From just about any era. No planes shoot anything out. Some drop bombs, but they don't shoot. |
RE: Combat Plane?
There are combat planes that look nothing like the ripper. A ripper is a high dollar aircraft that that is at the top end of the quality and performance chart. Now remember that these things will most likely end up deep in the dirt when the contest gets a little wild. For a newbie there might be a more economical aircraft. First I'd suggest .15 SSC ClassA airplanes. Slower, more maneuverable and it costs a lot less. You can get more “pilots” in the air due to minimum investment. The contest is just as rewarding as open class “B”. (And you have a lot more time to think)

ORIGINAL: Nexstar ...but is a combat plane just a plane that looks like a war plane or do they shoot bullets or pellets also? Dynodan might have been trying to point out that there are 2 basic types of combat airframes: 1) Basic airframes for almost any form of combat - except: 2) Scale airframes used for Scale Combat. These are WWII era designs (1935 - 1955 for RCCA Scale Combat). Of course there are other rules that apply, but I think this answers your question. Could you post a link to the forum thread that the poster refers to his house being "hit"? D |
