Question

ok i'm new to planes but don't you think it's a bit stupid disabling the other persons motor? i mean what if he crashes?!

RE: Question

Please clarify your question, combat is not about taking somebody's engine out in flight, it's about tieing on a streamer at the end of your plane and try to cut it in the air while chasing it, although midairs happen quite frequently.

RE: Question

I think he's talking about the "Fighterbirds" with their "combat" add-on. Those planes are basically powered gliders anyway, so loosing power isn't a big deal, you just glide until the motor comes back on. Since they are electric, stoping and re-starting the motor isn't a big deal.

RE: Question

On a post some time back there was a guy that was talking about putting that system in glow combat planes. I hope he never tried this and it should be made illegal if it is tried. Hopefully common sence will prevail and no one encourages him.

RE: Question

Huh? Cutting power on even a glow engine isn't THAT big of a deal. If you can't handle a deadstick, you probibly aren't ready for combat anyway :D. No one crashes just because their engine quits. You might land pretty far out, but you shouldn't crash.

So, while it doesn't sound like much fun to me, I don't see it as a safety issue at all. If they want a system that cuts power on a glow engine, have fun with it.
