WTB- .15 Engine for SSC
 

Hello,
I know this should be in classifieds, but I did a search for anything ".15" and found only 3 engines for sale. I KNOW there are guys out there that have a .15 laying around that they are willing to sell. Therefore, I am posting this here, in the COMBAT forum. So....

I am looking for a .15 engine for SSC combat. It needs to be in good running order with a muffler. If the carb is a little rusty, I can take the whole engine apart, and clean it all. I just need a .15 for SSC combat.

You know, a new engine is only $55 or so. It's hard to find used engines for less than that, unless someone is getting rid of junk or getting out of flying combat.

And you're right, the .15 size engines aren't terribly popular in general.

Stock, plain ABC engines. Thunder Tiger .15, O.S. .15 III, FP, LA (LA seems to be the best of the group), Magnum .15 etc...

No Modifications other than replacing the screws/nuts with hex heads, opening the exhaust on the muffler (stinger must remain), and switching to a remote needle if the engine doesn't already have one. In the case of the .15 LA, some of us are removing (cutting) the needle from the backplate and remounting it to the plane, as it useuallly is the first thing to break off anyway.

The basic engine rules are:
1. Maximum .15 ci displacement
2. Must sell for advertised price of less than $65
3. Must run MA 8X3 prop, not exceed 17,500 rpms
4. May change bolts from JIS crosspoint (Japanese phillips) to hex type
5. May bore out muffler exit, but "stinger" must be left in place.
6. May remove baffle by elimination or cutting the restriction open

The Magnum .15XL and OS LA .15 represent about 95% of the currently used SSC engines used in contests.
