Which combat plane

If there were only one combat plane for a 25 size engine, which one would you prefer

RE: Which combat plane

I guess the easiest answer would be the one most people fly in your area, or at your field. There is nothing like experience when it comes to setting up a new plane that no one around you is familar with. Are you looking for something to use for informal combat, or RCCA Class-B?

Do you prefer Wings or standard airframes? There are alot of good kits out there, but it again boils down to what your looking for...

RE: Which combat plane

Unfortunately, there are no combat meets near here. It is something that I will have to travel to do. I am considering RCCA class B

RE: Which combat plane

How close do you consider "near"?

Part of your airplane choice is dictated by your flying style. That said, two of the best B class planes out there are the Avenger and the Cobra. But don't think that you can't win unless you have one of those, there are many designs out there that are very close to each other, and pilot skill matters a lot more than airframe design.

RE: Which combat plane

By near, I mean 30 miles...

I do understand that pilot skills are more important, I would just like to come up with a competitive package..... If I don't do very well with a good combo, then I know it is me:)

Avenger and Cobra? what manufacturers?

Here is a link to some kits

30 miles ain't nothing once you get the bug to fly combat!

CAPtain232:

We have some guys flying combat in the Hamilton County club (we're about 15 miles north of Indy off highway 31). We started with B class, but have recently switched to SSC (.15 size), but we'll fly both types. Feel free to email me for more information if interested.

CAPtain I would stick with your first choice if I were you. There's a new class on it's way for .25 size engines called Limited-B. It's great for club combat and it's an easy switch to OpenB and both of the other scale classes.

RE: Which combat plane

CAPtain232,
I would suggest one of the commercially available kits as a starting point. Scratch building your first plane is time consumming for someone just starting in combat.

Since Nvillerod is flying combat near you I would suggest you visit with the folks he flies with. If you are going to fly competitively it would help to have some folks nearby to practice and fly with.

As far as kits go, the manufacturers that you might wish to check out who have both B and SSC planes are:

1. Lanier RC - the Ripper or Slasher
2. Tufflight - the Panther and Predator
3. GRS Models for ARF Falcon flying wing (not as durable but flies great)
4. Team Seaholm for the Avenger 964 and 972
5. Hat Trick RC for the Bat Trick, Choker, Mini Choker
6. WWW.Texascombat.com for the Cobra and SMACK II

Good luck with combat, its a blast.

I have a Tufflight Panther with an os25fx and flies right through anything in it's path. Not only fast and durable, but the flying wing shape really stands out making it easy to see in the heat of the battle.

We just started combat in our club and a few of us tried the JKAerotech planes and these things fly real well and fast on a standard 25. I'd take a look at them.

I see you have stock mufflers on your planes. That's a good way to make them last longer.

We only do this for a little fun, Not a big war of the worlds to be the best. Or maybe nobody in our club uses mouse for there hair???? Either way we are having a blast.

RE: Which combat plane

Hey Alex ......... I just got thru ordering 2 B Axes. I look forward to opening these on Christmas Day. Lynn said I could look at them [sm=what_smile.gif] and chech them out. [sm=wink_smile.gif] Then she will wrap them up for Christmas so I can open them with the grandkids and show them what Santa brought me. [sm=teeth_smile.gif] Right now I am going to use 2 engines that I have had; an MVVS .25 and an OS Max .25.

I know that these will fly as well as my SSC's have flown. Over 60 rounds so far and I still am flying the same equipment. My wings have been cracked, the box busted and the rails bent .... [sm=bananahead.gif] ....... but a little, simple repair and good as new. Truly a very rock solid plane.

I look forward to seeing and, flying against, you and your Dad next June there in Jackson.

Good morning to all

Any suggestions to us, people in Europe?

Can not find these excellent U.S.A. KITS here!

Thanks

George

Fred420 11-23-2006 04:38 PM

RE: Which combat plane

I can ship them to you if you want. Just choose the one you want, Battle Axe, and I can drop ship to you. Have it sent to me or maybe Alex could ship direct to you.

RE: Which combat plane

Thank you very much Fred

Unfortunately there are some restrictions here to import goods from US.A. It has something to do with a commercial "war" between E.C.U. and USA, or something like that, I am not a specialist. But the result is, that we order goods from USA, that never come here (!) or they come after a really long time, or we heve to pay crazy customs!

So I am trying to find these models to a European store, as for example I can buy Great Plane Models from Sussex Model Center.

Thanks

George
