A newbie question
 

After a 25 year lay off from the hobby I recently got back into it and after about 3 hours with a instructor have soloed and on my way again to profiencency. Now my question is that I have been told that combat stlye airplanes fly great in high winds and are very stable for a begginer if the control throws are set to minium. I was wondering which one of the many different styles of combat plane would be the best for what I want?I want to fly everyday but dislike flying in high winds so I want a very durable and forgiving plane to accomplish this. My next question is since I abhor hand lanching which one can I attach landing gear too.

Your best bet is any of the SPAD designs intended for sport flying. There are several that handle the wind well, are very durable, and are designed with landing gear and so on. There are also several SPADs intended for combat that can have gear added to them easily.

I dont know what kind of winds you have where you live. But, I can tell you that Lanier Ripper my open A / SSC bird dont like the wind at all. At a bit over 2 1/2 lbs it gets tossed around the sky. I think the bigger open B planes with the .25 engines handle pretty good with the wind because they are a bit bigger.

That's odd, I've flown .15 powered SSC planes in much higher winds. And I've seen the Lanier planes up in high winds with out problems.
