Jk Aerotech...tips Please

How have all you JK Aerotech owners finished your models? Did you use the packing tape? Did you cover with ultracoat? Or did you finish with fiberglass? I am most curious about finishing with nylon material. Is rip-stop necessary or is any light nylon/polyester fabric good enough? Did you coat the nylon with epoxy resin or WBP? Please show some pics of how the planes survived crashes and midairs, I want to see how tuff they really are. Foam forever!!!!!!! :stupid:

I have their Corsair and have had 2 hi speed dirt naps as well as some horizontal tree encounters- stripped a set of servo gears once and had to replace a few props but that was it. Mine uses the tape that came with the kit but I.m going to econocote on the one I'm building this time for esthetic reasons only.

Kurt Tank,
JKA's methods are extremely tough as-is. The only thing I do differently is cover them with TowerKote or EconoKote instead of the kit-supplied packing tape. A light coat of 3M77 over the foam parts makes the covering stick very well.

Using Rip-Stop nylon would be fine to use on the wings. But, its really not required and only adds to the cost, weight and time to build it.

Rip-Stop will not work well for fuselages because it does not conform to compund curves very well at all.

This pic is of a prototype JKA P-47 that I'm still flying in combat:
