Mecoa- Gms engines?
Any of you using the Mecoa or GMS engines? Are they any good?
Looking for new engine that will run, .25-.30 size. Thanks Scott |

Not me personally, but another combat pilot in the club has one.
His comments are that the motor is heavier than average, and only puts out average power. |

Try the Magnum .28 or MDS .28 both are very user friendly engines with a lot of power and a reasonable price tag.
If you want the fastest (and lightest) engine and don't mind fooling with it, get a Norvel. Very light and extreemely fast but they require a little patience to get used to them. Irvine is also a very good engine. Some of the "Top Dogs" are running them. The most expensive (and some say the best) is the O.S. .25 FX. They are a very strong engine. Havn't tried the GMS .25. I have a .47 and it is a powerhouse but a little on the heavy side. Theyare available at a reasonable price. |

The GMS.25 is a good running engine, but not quite as powerfull as some of the others. It also is a couple oz. heavier.
The Norvel and Mag.28 are the pic of the litter in the low price range. os.25FP and Irvine.25 are the best regardless of price. Cajun:cool: |

Thanks for your opinions, I have a magnum.25 and a os .25 fx, but really didn't want to run the os, and the magnum .25 has a broken con rod. I also did own a mvvs .26 but never could get it to run right. I have been thinking on the MDS but don't know how reliable they are.
Thanks Scott |

The Magnum.25 is not comparable to the .28. Their just different cats of the same litter.

That's true. The Magnum .28 is a whole lot more powerful. It'll turn a 9x5 prop at the same RPMs as a .25 will turn a 9x4. This equates to 25% more speed, in theory anyway.
