Help with the SPAsturDs...

Hey Guys, new to this stuff and been looking into this combat, especially SPADs and have a shopping list for Saturday. Driving to Lowes/HomeDepot in either Sav. or Macon, same distance either way from the sticks and swamp I gladly call home...and gonna get a Mag.28 (maybe a .15 too) and build some of these jobbers! In honor of Tatoo and Kraut, who inspired this insipid demention, I'm gonna name my first one the SPAsturDs. Pun and fun, but no offense, intended! Anyway, since it is 2 hours to anything, help me remember the stuff I may not have put on my shopping list...stuff I might have overlooked...I have downloaded the material lists and such but my experience is you NEVER come home with everything no matter what! Oh well. And thanks for opening my eyes to the fourth demention... :D

grazzhopper,

RCU has a brand new topic just for SPADs. You might want to post this question down there as well. You might get more response there.

Grass: If you have to purchase the square American 2 1/2" PVC pipe, then you might have a hard time finding it at Lowes or Home Depot. I would first call them before you make your 2 hour journey for parts, and if they do not have it(which I found out a few weeks ago), you could try calling some small hardware shops to see if they have it. I found mine at a local small hardware store.

If you can't find gutterpipe, check out the HOR design for ideas...the more I use the aluminum channel for fuselages, the more I like it!!! I just got some 1 1/2" "L" channel for a future .40 sized project............

Thanks guys

for the tips...I can't get much locally so I'm gonna try to get some gutter pipe, alum, coro, yardsticks etc. and maybe a bat if I can make it to wally world...plus all the little hardware goodies that the local shops don't have...No LHS etc. I'm gonna love building these with my boys, what a way to unleash the mind and get off the chain! My wife thinks SHE is going shopping...She aint seen nothing yet! I got a 50 item list and haven't even begun to be spontaneous yet..! I might go completely spadstic. I hope my first doesn't turn out like spadsack, I might have to hide in the back of the spaddyshack...ouch, this could get ugly quick. :D

The HOR is what happens when a SPAD and a Duraplane have a midair.

pick up some of those little hook blades. they are about 5 bucks for a set of 5, but are worth the price. u will use 2 of them for a hinge cutter, and i use a single as a trimmer

plastic bats $1.96 at wally world work great. i morfed the COMbat idea into a trainer using old goldberg eagle II plans. second bat sacraficed for a cowl. flew it firstime last week. too much fun!! tip: build up some plywood etc on top of the wing hold down dowells so the rubber bands don't compress the bat and change the wing incidence.
