What does combat mean?

Do you just chase each other?

Use ultrasonic waves?

BB pellets, like the combat warship guys?

What?

You try to cut a streamer of your opponent.

Wow! Sounds great fun! Do you cut it off with the prop?

Most cuts are wing cuts. Most fun you can have with RC IMHO.

If you are interested the UK 12th scale combat org. will be running a competiton just north of Luton on Sat. June 17th.

PM me for more information if you are interested.

RE: What does combat mean?

Yep, a prop cut mostly ends with the streamer tangled up in the prop hub, with lame performance, and the whole pack on your six! Takes a lot of time to remedy too.
also look at www.aircombat.nl , though you will find clubs near you in the UK.

Herr Cowana is making fun of the combat flyers as well he should. Don't forget the 3D folks Cowana. They look as silly.

RE: What does combat mean?

how can you cut a streamer with your wing???? sounds kinda difficult!!!

RE: What does combat mean?

No cutting. You fly through the streamer, and rip it off, then make a low pass to convince the judge of what you did [>:]. To that end, some double sided adhesive tape is provided on the wing leading edge, so the streamer sticks. (or tailplane, or fin)

Is there any film on these combat games in action. I'm interested in seeing what an actual show or demonstration looks like.

geez preivers , couldn't you have yanked on his streamer a little ( pulled his leg ) and said something about a knife edge pass.:D:D

Reneau... Take a look at this link for video of hand launches at the start of a slow combat session:

It's very hard to get good video of of RC combat. Even slow combat is too fast for good video.

Check out the photo gallery of my club's website. In the "Slow Combat" section there are a lot of good combat pictures:

RE: What does combat mean?

RC combat takes many forms. Slope combat and some forms of Zagi combat are basically full contact. Most of the combat flown involves towing a streamer behind your plane which is the target; each pilot tries to cut their oppoents' streamers for points, while protecting their own. This video clip shows a lowres sample of the action at the [link=http://www.rccagallery.com/video/Paris2005/Paris2005Sample1_lowres.wmv]Lone Star Nationals[/link] in Paris TX in 2005.

The planes we typically fly are made of high density foam, coroplast and other cheap/light materials. Balsa is way too fragile and rarely seen.
