Just wanted to share my first attempts at JKA kits. The FW was my first and took about 1 full day to complete. The Jug was second and took about half that, these build real fast when you get accustomed to the building style. Thanks have to go out to Demon for his building tips. Hope you enjoy!

WOW, both of them look GREAT!

You're quite welcome for the tips! ;) Glad you found them useful.

Have you had a chance to fly the Fw-190 yet?
What engine does it have?
Was it difficult to balance with the short nose?
Is that JKA's new 'OD' colored tape as the base color on them both?
What did you use for the gray of the camo?

Those are some beautiful planes!

Thanks Demon!

I haven't flown the FW yet. Suprisingly it balanced perfectly with the magnum .25 up front. No extra weight needed. I did use their OD tape for covering but the color just wasn't right because you could still see the pink foam color underneath. So what I did was paint both with Lustercoat paints. I ran out of the Dove gray so I used Rustoleum gloss for that on the Jug (your tip!). The decals were home made. I printed them on regular paper, glued them on with goop, and hit them with lustercoat satin clear for fuel proofing. Can't wait to do some combat!

Skull and bones to scare em'

All my fellow club members are flying house of balsa planes they spent days building, they have been warned about possible mid airs with me :D

Also, the cowl is a 3 liter soda bottle built following your instructions....simply an awesome idea!

Very cool!

Up against House of Balsa kits eh? There will be summer snow in Maine soon (of the balsa variety...). ;)

Love the Totenkopf emblem on the cowl - very appropriate!

The key to using their tapes for finish colors is to apply 2 layers of the tape to get adequate coverage in the areas that color is desired. But, that adds weight. Paint does work best- especially over a low-temp, iron-on covering (like TowerKote).
