R/C combat has nothing to do with dropping bombs or shooting at each other. We attach crepe paper streamers to the tails of our airplanes and chase each other around, trying to cut the streamers with our propellers.

There are two main reasons to add bomb bays or bomb drops to an airplane: Scale detail, or fun (e.g. dropping candy or plastic figures with parachutes on them).

i was more thinking on eggs :p but there are enough planes who got it or an camera or something!

Try the Fun-Fly Forum

Try asking the same question in the the fun-fly forum.
There is a Fun-fly competition called the "Egg-Drop"...ask how they do it....

I think usually it's a plastic cup fastened to the top of the plane...to drop...just do a roll. And LOOK OUT! SPLAT!!!

There also used to be a company called Vortac that made a servo operated bomb drop mechanism.....don't know if they are still around or not.

High Flights!

You also don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to build a box that can be opened with a servo.

Here's my simple bomb bay, no rocket science required. Works great!

I like it!
Did you make it to rubber band on any plane?

Yep, with those dowells I just rubber band it in place. I have a giant Deb tail dragger and put it on the CG. I made some tall LG for added clearance. Whiffle golf balls make good bombs, parachute guys drift a long ways from a high drop if you don't judge the wind right.

You can make a very simple system by mounting a servo next to the fuselage side, and having a pushrod stick out through a tube in the side of the fuse. Make its lenght so that when you flip the switch the pushrod retracts fully into the fuselage. You can then put a rubber band on the pushrod where it exits the fuse, and attach the other end to a wing hold down dowel. When the pushrod retracts, the rubber band will come loose, dropping any load you mounted underneath it.

DutcheR, If you go to my picture gallery you will find a camera and a bomb drop to give you some ideas.

i took a pvc box, removed the radius. hinged the coro, i took out 2 flutes, now the coro when it bends, has a radius of its own. and secured them with rivets so there is nothing to get snagged on.. once the elastic is released, the coro returns to it's original form and well, the doors open all the way.. i omitted the end corocap to reveal the inside of my bay. a pic is worth a thousand words so here they are.
this design could be mounted on any style of plane.. and it's made with scraps i had laying around.
