Question - RIP Slasher... Options?

I was going to build my first combat plane this winter and all the other pilots at my field have Lanier Slashers... To my horror the slasher is discontinued and I cant find anyone who still has it in stock.
I have O.S. 25 fp that I'll be using.. and I'm not a experienced builder and a sloppy pilot.

Any suggestions for a plane arf / kit instead of the now discontinued Slasher?
Something with serious reinforcement on the wings maybe? I don't mind repairing a lot of things but wing and spar breaks i leave alone.
+ the slasher had nice sturdy plastic fuselage.... heavy yes but durable

I will be mainly going against slashers with .25 or .32's in them. And as we are not sanctioned or anything we go for more than the steamers if we have the chance.
Suggestions please?

Menthol there are a few kits out there that will do what you want. The one I fly is the avenger and can be found here http://www.airscharnell.com/team_scharnell_avenger.htm. There is also the battle axe. http://www.treneffrc.com/products.asp?cat=24 and the phence post from hattrick http://www.hattrickrc.com All 3 of those should be tougher easy to build and out perform the slasher.

Since Lanier r/c was bought out by Great Planes, has the Ripper and the Slasher been discontinued?

If you really have to have a Slasher try prop-shop.com , I believe they have one kit and a wing set on the shelf collecting dust. The Slasher is a great fun-fly plane but cant really hang with the others mentioned in the combat arena. You really cant go wrong with a Phencepost from hattrickrc.com , IMO they are the most durable, bulletproof kits and your best bang for the buck.
