High cell-count ESCs

Where do people get their high-voltage ESCs nowadays? I've been looking to find a tekin 420-2g, but can't find any used ones available.
Presumably something better or similar has come around--so what do you recommend in its place? I'm looking for something >20V...

Go to RC-Monster.com. He sells some high voltage car ESC's. He ships really quick too.

Wow, awesome stuff there!
I only see brushless esc's. For this project I need to control a brushed motor that I already have; I didn't see any brushed controllers unfortunately...

On snap. I assumed you wanted brushless when you mentioned 20 volts. How about just running switches, just your basic on and off function?

Ah, but it has to be proportional and fwd/reverse...the ESC I have now (Rebel 2) tops out at 10 cells = 12V, and I'd like to increase the voltage to about 20V...

Hi pjc30943,

Not sure what you are looking for in high-voltage. We use a Novak SuperDuty XR on 8 round cells, brushed motor on our R2E Electric Rail. Next season we're going to 10 round cells, brushed motor for the R2E-2 Top Fuel Electric Rail. 8 round cells = 9.6V nominal; 10 round cells = 12.0V nominal. The Novak SDXR is rated to 14 round cells = 16.8V nominal.

OTS (Off the Shelf) the Novak is wired for two (2) 7.2V packs in parallel. Re-wiring per specs provided by Novak in the owners manual gives it the series cell capability up to 14 round cells = 16.8V.

Not sure what run time you are looking to. Our application tasks the Novak SDXR ESC at 2.5sec run times. All is cool with that. We anticipate no problems with higher amperage draw and 1.8sec runs. The Novak SDXR shuts down thermally, not on amperage draw. That's important to us. Specs say it'll go 400amps forward. We disable reverse. We also run a Novak 30amp Racing Schottky diode to aid in braking and keeping the ESC cool. Additionally, we employ a really BIG power cap. Just extra weight UNLESS we need to "pedal" the car mid-run, e.g., get out of the throttle and then back in again. The power cap gives us a plus-up there.

Re-reading your posted, we see you are asking for >20V. Meaning 'greater than' 20V? check this out for your application. It is seeing use in RC Extreme Drag Racing with BL motors:

Actually I meant >=20V, but either way that controller completely fits the specs [8D]

i have a jeti esc that would do, pm me about it
