[WIP] TB-02 Impreza Build
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I've been interested in cars for years. I can't keep a car stock for long (currently own a boosted 1999 Civic EX) and it is the main reason for me going to school for Mechanical Engineering. A few kids at school and some people from the local car forum are into these now and I figured it'd be something for me to do over the winter. I have a lot of plans for scratch built items for this car. Luckily for me, being in a school with Mechanical Engineering that also offers Computer/Electrical Engineering, means I have gotten a lot of the small things for free. I have gotten 2 Futaba S3003 servos, a bunch of LEDs/resistors/wire and a few 4700uF capacitors, helping hands for scratch building/soldering and a few other things. Like I said, just small stuff but still free is a win in my book. Anyway, on to the good stuff:
Chassis: Tamiya TB-02
Body: 2003 WRC Impreza
Plans:
Paint-Tamiya Metallic Red with CF hood and possibly CF trunk
Wheels: Volk TE-37
There are a few hop ups that I've bought but with access to free materials and CNC machinery, I'll be making a few things
Scratch-built Items:
Splitter
Diffuser
Brakes
FMIC
Oil Cooler
Engine Bay
Interior possibly
Brake Duct
Tow hook
Exhaust
Light Buckets
Wipers
I'm sure I'll think of a few other things. I got my mother to buy the chassis for me so I can't start working on that until Christmas, but I will be starting on a few other things. On to the pictures!
I found this case for when Tech Decks were cool back in the day (which is just a few years for me). Definitely a great size for Dremel bits
Found this lil' beauty while cleaning the basement. I'm still not sure when/how it got there.

Updates!
Finally got started on this thing. I've decided I'll probably have multiple sets up wheels (already 3). I've been through a few sets on my actual car too so this will probably be very similar. I hope to work on it more this evening.
Now with a more frog-like appearance
Starting the diff
Look! No leftover parts!

great choice of chassis, love them so much I got two. One for drift another VTA Class.
recommend aluninum diff if you go brushless, carbon fiber upgrades makes the chassis look hotter. nice.
Another thing FEB 19,20 the place to be Harrisberg, PA @ MOTORAMA.

IT LIVES! Finally got it running. I need to adjust the steering to a more neutral position. I had a few issues pluggin in the ESC (wrong spot for the battery plug on the receiver) but now she's up and running. I think tomorrow since I will be free all day, I'm gonna get started on the body

As Gokemidoro pointed out, this needs pictures. It's been a while since I've put pictures up so I figured I would this time around. The car runs, I just need to adjust the neutral servo position slightly. I'm working on a few "accessories" at the moment. Expect more progress throughout the week.
Here the can decided to break on me.

So began cutting out the body and finished up the front mount today. Here is a teaser pic of the body and one wheel set. It's a VERY rough cutout so dont worry, itll be fixed. I'm holding out on other pictures

hey all. It's been a little while. I've been busy with work. I should have all day Sunday to work on it. Here is a small update. It's basically ready for paint though
