Well after watching video after video, I decided I want to get into drifting. I've been researching cars, and I think I like the HPI Sprint 2. Would this be a good starter car? and what type of tires should I put on it? Any other things I'll need? Thanks...Scuzz.

for a radio, how much money you want to spend?... probably a 2 channel radio like the futaba mag junior or 2pl. Also the hitec agressor radio, it really depends on how much u want to spend.

Too bad you posted so late. I would've sold you my JR XR2i with two receivers and matching crystals for $50 shipped.
As for the radio, I would recommend getting a 75MHz system so that you can run more cars together. With the 27MHz system, there are only 6 channel possibilities, but with the 75MHz, you have around 20 choices.

Ok. After doing further research on the TT-01D, I discovered that I'm going to need to buy not only a radio, but a reciever and servos? But on Tower, it says that all that is required is a radio, [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKSG4&P=ML]Here[/link] but on this diagram, it says I need a reciever and servos. Or is it just where I order it from?

Someone please help?

Ok...I added 2 of the Venom's to my cart. So far I have the TT01D [$135], Futaba 2PH radio [$50], and the 2 Venoms [$20]. I'm also thinking about throwing in a Carbon Upper Frame. [>:] Do you think its worth it?

Im not sure if there worth it, ive never tryed a car with one or seen one in action, if your planning to drift the main thing id recomend is ABS plastic tires
you will need a charger for thos packs
i have
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJC34&P=ML
that and it seems to work fine, but if you want to upgrade to NiMH packs in the future its not a good idea since it only charges NiCD
i was looking to save some money and dont mind having a few more NiCDs instead of 2 or 3 NiMH
its your choice, that charger charges my 1500ma packs in 25 minutes so its pritty fast

Go with aluminum driveshaft. Plastic one flexes at high rpm. Also dont know if you interested but tower has 2 3000mah packes for 33 bucks. Theyt are team orion super duty cells. Great batterys. I can get almost an hour of runtime with one and some deans on a stock tt-01d.

Nimh are better in the long run anway. No memory. Trust me buy the nimh charger and batteries first or you will be swapping then out later. Also you DO NOT want a timed charger get a peak charger. Here is a cheap charger that does both. [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLD5&P=0]charger[/link] and here are the batts [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXCUH3]batteries[/link].

Ok...I already have a Hot Bodies Micro Charger. [Peak Charger] and I added a Venom 3000mAh NiMH along with 2 Venom 1800 NiCD...But I see that the Team Orions are a better deal. Are the Venom and Team Orion basically the same? And do I need the 2 NiCDs or would I be ok with just the 2 Team Orions?

Or what if I save a few bucks and go for the stock TT-01. Not the 01D. What upgrades would I need to make it 'driftable'? Also, what are some differences between the TT-01 and TT-01D? Is the motor in the 01D better?

the D motor is better. Its a Sports tuned motor
The D has drift tires included. You cant drift on the stock TT-01 tires included in the kit
The D has ball bearings all over.
The D has adjustable suspensin for optimal drifting...the TT-01 is not adjustable.
Stick with the D version

I do have to agree with snj on some of it. The motor is more suited to drift. The tires that come with the D are to grippy for any drifitng outside. Just get yourself some ABS. Ball bearings are a must. Even if you decide to go with the plain tt-01 you must buy ball bearing. The adjustable suspension is nice but not neccesary. Like snj said it is for optimal drifitng. If you have the peak charger and it can do nimh then go with just one set of the orions. I'm telling you you get much better power and longer times with the higher mah you get into.

The more batteries the better but there is really no need. If you were gonna do that I would just fork out 13 more and get 2 more orions.

Thanks!
Do you have any suggestions on battery packs? What do you use?
