ABS is a plastic. It is bought in tubes (when you want to drift) as it has low friction, making it good for sliding about.

Nitros don't reverse unless they have a gearbox with reverse in it. It's common to not be able to reverse in stock nitro RTRs. As for the battery problem, try getting another pack (the same physical size), but with a higher mAh rating to make it last longer.

get rid of those tyres and get decent tyres, try morfars.dk for a good kit or you can go for the expensive yokomos.

I believe it's polethene piping and has a lower friction with the ground, making slides easier. The only thing is that it's white, so doesn't look as good as ABS.

Your Nikko wont ever be a really good drift car my man, sorry to say that. You need to be looking at a 4wd proper elec touring car, the TT-01 is again a good example and almost as cheap as it gets to enter this sport, you need to be thinking along those lines anyway.

As for PE piping it is PolyEthelyne, comes in several grades Low, Medium and High, it is used by the D10 drifters in South Africa as ABS is not widely available, it is argued that PE is better than ABS giving more grip when you need it but sliding just as well, it does come in black, I'm almost certain they used M.D.P.E (medium), I have never found any the right size in the UK to have a go mind.

A nitro Nikko? There's something odd about that, I didn't think there were nitro nikkos.

I think he got confused between "Nitro" and "Nikko".

At any rate, you really need a hobby (or closer-to-hobby) class car to get any really fun out of drifting.

For your issues, chances are it was a cheap car and came with a cheap battery pack/charger. They tend to loose their ability to hold a charge after a while. A few months seems kinda soon, but it depends on how it was charged and how many times.

Dunno about the reverse problem, it's a generic "radioshack" toy and not something I'm familiar with.

Might have been a Ni-Cd pack, which (if not discharged totally) develops a 'memory' and thinks that the charge level it was left at is discharged, so if you used an electric car for 3 minutes, say, and left the battery for a week, then charged it and used it for 3 minutes, and so on, it would eventually only work for 3 minutes at the current draw of that car. Is that sort of correct?
