I was out in the burbs yesterday and saw a little hobby shop I'd never been to before so I thought I'd pop in for a look. As I walk past the usual planes and heli's toward the back I notice a high shelf with a few old Tamiya car kit boxes stacked on their side. I walk over and glance over them and stop with a huge smile when I saw the following:

Best part was that I only paid $235AUD for it. hehe I'm damn pleased with this score. Cant believe I found one in WA and still in the box.
So now I'm a member of our local hallowed TA03F club

Yup I remember saying that all too well. thats why I had such a huge smile on my face when I found one at a pokey little suburban hobby shop that usually has nothing usefull.
It just goes to show that perseverance and actually driving out to a hobby shop rather than just searching online pays off
Plus 99% of shop owners dont have a clue why people still want a discontinued kit so you can talk them down on the price a little hehe.

its ta03. ta02s are easy to find. you can get them from tower. ta03s are pretty hard to come by and when you do come by them they are usually really expensive. as they are discontinued and really old. http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-TA03R-TRF...QQcmdZViewItem heres one. next time you can just go on ebay and search for ta03. its hard to find and unopened ta03 though. think about it. if you had a new rc could u stand not openning it for like ten or so years? lol. some people can do it though. i cant

a ta03 can easily go over 300 with enough bids and there are like 3 or 4 versions. theres a ta03, ta03f, tao3r ta03f pro. theres probaly more. that i cant think of. and some of the ones i listed could be wrong. i only know some general info about the ta03

Yeah ofcourse I'm opening the box. I wanted one of these to actualy use
I've managed to get together the FRP chasis parts and the stabilizers and dampers off a David J. TA03F-Pro so by the time I'm finished I should have a damn nice drift spec TA03F Pro

Ah cool thanks I'll check them out but parts arent actually as much of a problem as people make out. There's plenty of parts out there for them when you go looking. The only parts that are hard to find are all the BLING after market alloy parts. Although again if you really look you can still find them.

I'll be posting some build pics as soon as I actually start the build
I'm planning on getting all the parts together first.
In terms of electronics I'll be buying myself a nice Spektrum DX3.0 radio kit I think and then I'll be putting a Mamba Brushless motor into it
It'll take me about a month to get everything together so stay posted for pics.
In the mean time all I can show you is the hybrid ta03f I have that I'll be using for parts. It was a little experiment someone I know did. You'll notice that this baby was rigged to run 2 motors ie a Torque Monster! hehe
This is what I'll stripping to rebuild a TA03F Pro.
