contrary to what these forums will make you belive drifting is 90% skill and 10% equipment

xray t2r --- no hopup's neede cost $198 <-- needs body, wheels and electronics
esc --- any capable 14turn or lower ~$50-$60
motor --- anything around 19 turn will do (dont let people tell you whats the best motor, there is not one ... drifting is about
tourque and that is produced by the relationship between motor pinion and main gear) ~$30-....
reciver -- any 2 channel is fine. if you want lights that are controlled by you remotely you need an extra one or 2 channels
transmittor --- again anything will do. no there is no need to spend x on a 2.4ghz system ... its just shiny
tires --- either the hpi or make your own ... i hear people like ABS
servo --- any high tourque will do $30
batterys --- i use 3000 and 3300 others use 4200. I am fine with mine. I had them lay around and i run about 15-20 min with a pack.

why the t2r ... because if you decide to race a little all you need is a different motor pinion and some sticky shoes (racing tires) and you are good to go

Mkosirog is totally right. Drifting is about skill, as long as you have a decent 4wd rc car with some abs tires then you will be good to go. I would not reccomend modifying your rig right at first until you are comfortable with it and how it performs stock. It will only get harder to control with better upgrades. Finally stay away from those flashy ready to run cars that are around $300 and look like a million bucks, b/c they most likely run like a hundred bucks. Good Luck!

Alright you guys say al you need is a decent car, then spending cash on the t2r isn't worth it.

i would reccomend a cyclone s with either novak 4300 or 5800, or a komodo dragon 19t motor. Also depending on how many people u run with/ around a spektrum radio is a really good investment.

Finding a new T2R is damn near impossible. XRay is not making any more till the end of this year. News link:

This is correct ... if all you ever want to do is drift with your car ... spending $500 on it is not worth it. You can get away with way less. Like a tt01
If there is the slight chance that you would want to tinker around with your car and change setups (for drift or race) or go to the track to just
hug corners then go with something a little better like the cyclone, tc3, tc4, t2r or whatever else you find intresting. It will save you money in the end.

Get a car you like. If you plan on racing, go to your local tracks and see what those guys are running. Get what THEY have if you wanna compete. it's easy to go from race to drift, but going from drift to race can be more complicated (assuming you actually tune your car and not just swap tires). HOOOOOOOOOOWEVER, being that you're in Ontario, and you're close enough to get into some competition if you'd like (drift comp that is), you might want to get a stronger and more knowledgeable drift chassis. The competition in your area is pretty stiff and you getting a race chassis in a field where setup matters might not be to your advantage.

All that being said, all you really need is 4wd so you essentially could just find a 4wd chassis you like and practice a lot.

What tthe heck? xray t2r?
I've been on this drifting forum for a while now and this has got to be the first time i've seen anyone mention xray t2r.
Yeah good luck on parts support and forum member support on that on.

I recommend the Cyclone S.
If you want a shaft driven car, get a yokomo.

Got a problem with the car? As far as part support ... well ... put engine in car ... put ABS tires on ... drift. The internet has plenty of site's where you can order parts for the t2r. So far i made only 2 mistakes. 1.) my motor pinion was to big. 2.) I should have choosen a little bit more power on the engine side.
Other than that. The car drifts fine. Member support. Well what works on car one ... usualy works on car two too. If you can fix a civic you can fix a camry too.

I too Actually have to recommend the Cyclone S...

It was Easy to take it straight from being my Silvercan racer to being my Drifter........... with slight Camber Adjustment and polypipe tyres.. BRILLIANT car to Drift!

You just have to get the Gearing sorted..

I recommand Cyclone-S. I spent $300 for that car( Cyclone-S kit, Hitec radio system, batteries, bodies, ABS pipe). U dun have to spend like $500 for a decent car while u can drift good with some car with lower price.

Every car is the same if you really "know" your car. Play with it until it reachs its best in performance.
