TB-O3 VDS?? What are your thoughts

Just seen that tamiya has relesed a new version of the TB-03, the TB-03 VDS top spec drift chassis. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were about this new version and if anyone has there hands on this shaft driven monster yet.

Lots of bling, big price.

For what I see it going for in some places, you could get ahigh-end chassis that would be just as good or better.

I like Tamiya stuff, but some of their models are overpriced. The TB03VDS is one of them. The VDF was good until they hiked the price.

These days, if you are going to spend $400 - $500, might as well get a high-end chassis.

gotta agree there being a VDF owner, I really enjoy the chassis, have it tweaked out and it performs flawlessly for me, but I would not pay the going rate for it today, I would move up to a Yokomo DRB.

Got to see the TB03VDS up close, really nice, handles like a dream, but too pricey, I would move up to a higher end unit like a Yokomo DRB which needs nothing at all, has all the high end goodies

You guys summed up my thoughts pretty good. I've seen the VDS listed at more then the VDF and that just doesnt seem to make sense to me. Im sure it would mke a good drifter but for the money you might as well get something else. A DRB would be nice, except the last DRB I saw listed was going for over $800 and thats a little much for me.

The VDF is still within your price range, but you can also get a TC chassis that will work.

Schumacher makes one, Associated makes three, even Tamiya makes a few that would make great drifters. Since many of these chassis don't come with wheels or tires, you are free to choose ones that work, but TC chassis have been the platforms that drifters have been using up to now. Besides my own VDF, Ialso use a Losi JRXS-R (kstmRYD also uses one), which is also a TCchassis, and most probably the best I've ever driven.
So take a look around....I'm sure you will find one that fits your needss, and will most likely cost less than the TB03VDS.

Ya I havn't decided what my next chassis will be for sure yet but more then likely it will be a VDF. Hopefully soon as my TT01 just isn't cutting it for me and don't want to sink a bunch of money into it with hop ups.Just saw the VDS and figured I would see what everyone thought about it.

Yah, It's not a bad chassis, just overpriced, considering what it's made of (little to no carbon), and Tamiya normally doesn't tally up retail for the TRFparts it includes with it's "Pro" chassis like they apparently did with the VDS.

You could try RC Mart and see what they are asking for the VDS, it may be a bit less than the distributors here (provided it is in stock). It's where I got my VDF, and it cost me little over $230 (at the time, it was the blue version, the first edition run). Their prices are great!
