Are you kidding dude, what you have there is probably the best Drifter on the market!

Get rid of the mod motor, stick a 27T stock in (Trinity PK2 Pro, or a Reedy stock)

ABS or PVC pipe for tyres and you're away

I use a TC3 Team and an old Losi Weapon, but I would love a TA03F for Drifting, I've been in rc cars since '76 and Tamiya cars is something I've steered away from for nearly 25 years, but the TA03F is a belter for Drifting.

(If I were grip racing though, I'd stick with the TC3)

Hi,

I own a TA03-F equipped with PVC tires and a CE-4 motor, and in my opinion, it drifts really great. :D:D
Unfortunately, I do not have any comparison, because all my cars are TA03-F, until now I never owned an other car.

Best regards
force

So am I understand that the Tamiya TA03F is the best drifting platform? If so why? I would assume that sinse it isn't so tail heavy it would be more neutral and you would have more on throttle steering.

RE: TA03F

The fact that the motor is at the front means you have more weight over the steering wheels = more control in a low traction situation - which Drifting on ABS or PVC undoubtedly is

Forget the back end dude, don't get hung up on possible theories, just listen to the guys who run with the pack and DO IT!

I gotcha.....just curious man. If I wanted to build the ultimate drift car than you are saying this is the kit to start with?

Is there any place, other than ebay, to get the ta03???

The TA03 is the best drifter. It was banned from D1rc competition, so it has to be the best.

The TA03F just needs a few basic hop ups and you have yourself one of the nicest handling drifters out there (especialy on tight tracks with lots of transitions). I have 5 TA03's these days and love every single one of them.

The basic hop ups I would suggest are:

- Carbon Fibre Chasis plates (FRP will do if you cant get those).
- Super Low Friction Dampers or TRF dampers.
- Rear spool diff or a locked ball diff at the back.
- Front ball diff. (tighten it up so you get almost a LSD effect but dont lock it fully)

Those are the basics in my opinion. There are other cool things you can do like overdriving the rear wheels by putting a 17T pulley at the front and a 15T or 16T at the back which will counter some of the friction loss you get to the rear wheels and also spins the rear wheels faster than the front so you can get some mad angles ;)

eBay is your best bet for parts these days. Also head on over to the TA03 thread on DRCCentral. There are alot of us TA03 lovers over there and there are always guys selling parts.

If you want more info then I'm happy to help.

By the way, Congratz!! on being a member of the exclusive TA03F club hehe .... They are a very sought after drift chasis among those in the know ;)

Here's what a 03F can look like if you give it a bit of love ;)
